Obtain 3rd Party Tools
There are many compilers and simulators for the 8051 and ARM instruction sets. Because the ZE5 and ZA7 are fully compatible to these respective instruction sets, all compilers will be able to create object code for the Zylogic CSoC devices. However, they may experience some issues when using FastChip Header files due to syntax incompatibility. Also, these simulators will not be able to provide real-time, in-system debugging, since they are not supported by FastChip.

For the smoothest ZE5 and A7 development processes, Zylogic recommends using a supported IDE.

Zylogic will be continually adding support for other leading 8051 and ARM tools. Please check this page for updates.

Synopsys FPGA Compiler II
Product Overview: FPGA Compiler II is Synopsys' high-end logic synthesis package. Available for UNIX workstations, and Windows NT/2000 platforms, FPGA Compiler II provides optimal technology mapping for the Zylogic CSL, ensuring high Quality-of-Results.

 Synplicity Synplify
Product Overview: Synplify is a high-performance, sophisticated logic synthesis tool that provides optimal technology mapping for the Zylogic CSL.

How to Obtain: - Download Synplify trial software from Synplicity.

 Synplicity Synplify Pro
Product Overview: Synplify Pro includes the features of Synplify and adds analysis tools for optimizing and debugging complex programmable logic-based designs. Synplify Pro provides optimal technology mapping for the Zylogic CSL, ensuring high Quality-of-Results.

 Altium Protel
Product Overview: Altium's Protel is a popular schematic capture tool for programmable logic and PC board design. In addition to Protel, Altium supplies an array of complementary hardware and software design and analysis tools.
Support Status: Zylogic design libraries support Protel 99 SE and Protel DXP.
How to Obtain: - Obtain Protel and other design tools from Altium.
-Zylogic libraries are included with FastChip 2.4.0 and later.

 Cadence Orcad Capture
Product Overview: Orcad Capture is one of the most widely
used schematic capture tools, whether for
programmable logic or PC board design. In
addition to Capture, Cadence supplies an
array of complementary design and analysis
tools.
Support Status: Zylogic design libraries support Orcad Capture version 7, 9 or later.
How to Obtain: - Orcad Capture and the suite of Orcad tools are available from Cadence.
- Zylogic Development Kits include a functional Orcad Lite CD with usage limits (availability subject to change).
- FastChip includes Orcad 7 format libraries (use with Orcad 7 or later) and Orcad 9 format libraries (use with Orcad 9 or later). FastChip 2.3.0 or later recommended for best results.

 Innoveda ViewDraw
Product Overview: Innoveda ViewDraw is a widely used schematic capture tool for programmable logic and PC board design. In addition to ViewDraw, Innoveda supplies an array of complementary design and analysis tools.
Support Status: Zylogic design libraries support ViewDraw 7.5 and later, including versions bundled with WorkView Office, eProduct Designer and DxDesigner.
How to Obtain: - ViewDraw and other design tools are available from Innoveda, a Mentor Graphics company.
- Zylogic libraries included with FastChip 2.3.0 and later are recommended.

  Aldec Active-HDL
Product Overview: Aldec Active-HDL is a completely integrated design and simulation environment for VHDL, Verilog or mixed VHDL/Verilog and EDIF based designs. Zylogic CSoC devices are supported using Verilog and VHDL simulation libraries included with FastChip. Active-HDL also integrates Zylogic support in its Design Flow Manager.
Support Status: For highest Quality-of-Results, use version 4.2 or later. Use version 5.1 or later for Design Flow Manager support.

- Preview the Active-HDL 5.1 vendor flow integration with Zylogic.

 Cadence NC Simulators
Product Overview:

Cadence offers industry-leading performance for Verilog, VHDL and mixed-language simulation with its NC simulators. The Cadence NC-Sim simulation family is the optimum verification solution for programmable logic design. The native compiled simulator offers the freedom to transparently mix VHDL and Verilog using the world's only true single-kernel mixed-language simulation engine. Zylogic CSoC devices are supported using Verilog and VHDL simulation libraries included with FastChip.

 Innoveda Fusion/SpeedWave
Product Overview: Fusion/SpeedWave from Innoveda features VHDL simulation with incremental compilation and an advanced HDL debug environment. Zylogic CSoC devices are supported using VHDL simulation libraries included with FastChip.
Support Status: For highest Quality-of-Results, use version 2.2 or later, including versions bundled with WorkView Office, eProduct Designer and DxDesigner.

Product Overview: ModelSim from Model Technology is an industry leading HDL simulation tool for ASIC and FPGA designers, supporting VHDL, Verilog or mixed-HDL on UNIX and Windows platforms. Zylogic CSoC devices are supported using VHDL and Verilog simulation libraries included with FastChip.

Product Overview: Synopsys VCS sets standards for Verilog simulation performance, capacity and productivity on both UNIX and Windows platforms. Zylogic CSoC devices are supported using Verilog simulation libraries included with FastChip.

Microprocessor Development Tool Partners

 EPI Tools MAJIC and JEENI
Product Overview: The Multi-processor Advanced JTAG Interface Controller (MAJIC) and JTAG EmbeddedICE EtherNet Interface (JEENI) can be used to debug ARM7 software applications. The MAJIC and JEENI hardware is compatible with a number of front end debuggers, including the ARM ADS and GNU GDB.
Support Status: Both MAJIC and JEENI have been proven to work extremely well with the Zylogic A7.

  Keil Software µVision2

Product Overview: Keil provides the leading IDE for 8051 MCUs and the E5 Customizable Microcontroller. Tools include C compilers, assemblers, real-time executives, debuggers and simulators.
Support Status: Zylogic FastChip integrates seamlessly with the µVision Compiler and Debugger, allowing for easy code development and real-time, in-system debugging. Today, Zylogic supports the initial µVision (with the dScope debugger). Support for the µVision2 debugger will be available with FastChip 2.0, scheduled for Q3'00.

Wind River visionCLICK C/C++ Source-level Debugger
Product Overview: visionCLICK combines all of the power of state-of-the-art debugging facilities with the intuitive simplicity of a Windows-based environment. All of Wind River's hardware and software features are easy to access and execute. Each major function contains a "point and click" window or tool to make debugging fast, flexible, and direct.
Support Status: The Zylogic Software Development Kit has been extensively tested using both the Diab Compiler Suite and the visionCLICK debugger on the Zylogic A7 CSoC devices.
How to Obtain: - visionCLICK is available from Wind River.
- An evaluation version is available with the Zylogic A7 Starter Kit.
- Download the Zylogic SDK.

Wind River VxWorks and Tornodo II
Product Overview: VxWorks is the fundamental run-time component of the Tornado II embedded development platform, and the most widely adopted real-time operating system (RTOS). VxWorks is flexible, scalable, reliable, and available on all popular CPU platforms.
Support Status: A board support package that supports both the Zylogic A7 Development Board and the EPI Dev-A7 board is available in the Zylogic Software Development Kit.
How to Obtain: - VxWorks and the Tornado II development environment can be obtained from Wind River.
- Board support packages for VxWorks 5.4 are available in the Zylogic SDK.

Wind River Diab C/C++ compiler suite
Product Overview: The Diab C/C++ compiler suite for the ARM architecture enables developers to create exceptionally fast, compact code to optimize their embedded applications in a wide variety of markets including Internet appliances, networking and wireless.
Support Status: The Zylogic Software Development Kit has been extensively tested using both the Diab Compiler Suite and the visionCLICK debugger on the Zylogic A7 CSoC devices.
