Q) I have a Evaluation License CD. How is this evaluation version different than a Permanent License copy?

A) FastChip running under a Evaluation License is IDENTICAL to that running under a Permanent License. You can create designs, interface with 3rd party EDA and Microprocessor tools, and download to CSoC devices. After 30 days, the evaluation license will expire and you'll need to upgrade to a Permanent License.

Q) I received a FastChip CD kit and the software is asking for a License Number. Where do I get it?

A) Your FastChip software license is located on the back of the QuickStart Guide that came with the software kit.

Q) I purchased a Permanent License, and yet on my CD package it says "Temporary License." What does that mean?

A) If you purchase a Permanent License, your CD first comes with a "Temporary License," which allows you to begin using FastChip right away. This Temporary License will last for 30 days. During this period, you simply need to go to the Zylogic website to register (Click here to jump to the registration area) this temporary license, and your Permanent License will be emailed to right away.

Q) What's the difference between a license number and my "FastChip ID"?

A) A license number allows you to unlock the FastChip software and begin using it. The FastChip ID is a number that uniquely identifies a copy of FastChip to a particular PC. When you upgrade from an Evaluation License to a Permanent License (or from a Temporary License to a Permanent License), your FastChip ID is necessary in order to issue a Permanent License to that particular machine, in accordance with the License Terms.

Q) Where do I get my "FastChip ID"?

A) When FastChip is running, click on the "Help" menu bar, then click under the "License" menu item. Your FastChip ID will appear in a dialog box.

Q) I want to have a copy of FastChip running on two different PCs-one at the office and the other at home. Will my Permanent License number allow me to do that?

A) As long as the name you registered with Windows is the same, you should be able to use your license for both PCs. If you encounter problems, please contact your Zylogic sales representative.

Q) What does my Permanent License entitle me to?

A) When you purchase a Permanent License, Zylogic includes a one-year maintenance agreement which entitles you to all FastChip upgrades for this year, web-based technical support and email support. Please see the support page for more information.
