As
embedded applications become more complex and feature-rich,
designers are turning to graphic LCD displays to improve
the user experience. Unfortunately, many design engineers
become frustrated when they discover that they have
to acquire four of the vital components (display panel,
display controller, microcontroller and software drivers)
from four different vendors. This often leads to confusion
as none of the vendors provide guidelines on how to
combine all the bits and pieces into a working solution.
In addition, designers are faced with the decision of
either purchasing a graphics software library or writing
their own graphics routines. Either way, this is a difficult
and time-consuming task.
To address these challenges, Zylogic has developed
a one-stop hardware and software solution for monochrome
or color graphic LCD system development. Zylogic's
Graphic LCD Development Kit helps design engineers interface
their application to any passive LCD panel up to QVGA
size and supports touchscreen interfaces. The FastChip®
library of royalty-free IP modules contains a graphic
LCD controller that can turn an E5™ or an A7™ CSoC into
a microcontroller with on-chip graphic LCD control.
The kit provides pre-engineered support for several
popular panels, including Casio, Hitachi, Kyocera and
Samsung, but can easily interface to any passive display.
Extensive documentation explains in detail how to quickly
assemble a graphic LCD display application and make
it work with no prior knowledge of passive display interfacing.
