Worldwide
demand for security-related products is predicted to grow
at double-digit levels in the next several years. To meet
this demand, many companies in this market must create
technology that matches customer expectations for low-cost,
sophisticated and flexible devices.
The market for biometrics devices (including finger
scanning and retinal scanning), for example, will grow
40 percent yearly through 2005, according to the Freedonia
Group. Similar growth in demand is expected for other
security products such as electronic access controls,
cameras, and alarm systems.
Zylogic's configurable single-chip solutions
allow designers to differentiate their products in embedded
applications for the security market by seamlessly enabling
the addition of new features and customization. In a
market of fixed and standardized products, such differentiation
can propel companies into leadership positions.
For instance, with Zylogic's CSoC (Configurable
System-on-Chip) devices, designers can add remote-control
features, encryption and authentication without the
need to modify the design. This offers a major leap
forward in time and cost savings compared to multiple-component
solutions, which are not flexible enough to meet the
challenges of this rapidly evolving market.
The flexibility of the CSoC's programmable
logic, combined with the rich selection of IP modules,
also makes it easy to implement typical security functions
such as:
Graphic LCD display control
Keypad interface
CAN, Ethernet,
RS-485 or other communications interfaces
Zylogic's devices all feature a large
number of I/Os, making it easy to design large control
panels with multiple LED indicators and push-buttons.
